Who we are

This website is run for Snowdon Baptist Church ("the church"): the live translation of the services, the published sermons and the Persian Fellowship. The church is responsible for your personal information.

What we keep, and why

If you register: your name, email, phone number and password (only in a secure, one-way form). You may use a nickname instead of your real name; just tell the church which nickname is yours. If you confirm your attendance, we note that you were there (at church or online), and while you are signed in during a live service, how long you followed it. If you take a course, we keep your answers and the reviewer's notes. We use this only for your account and the Persian Fellowship (attendance, courses, keeping in touch).

Your location

Only when you press "Confirm attendance", say you are at church, and allow it on your phone: the location is checked once, to confirm that you are at the church. It is never taken without your permission or in the background, and it is not shown to anyone.

Who can see it

Only the church's admins, and for course answers, the reviewers. We never sell or share your information, except where the law requires it.

Services we use

To translate the service, the sound of the service (the people speaking at the front) is sent to OpenAI and Google. Photos of course answers are sent to OpenAI to write out the handwriting and translate it, without your name. Your account details are not sent to them.

How it is protected

On the church's server in Canada (Toronto), with backups. Pages use an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored in a form that cannot be read back, and only the people named above can open the records.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. Ask us at any time and we will delete your account and its records, except anything the church must keep by law.

Your rights

You can see and correct your details in "My details", and ask the church for a copy of your information, a correction, its deletion, or withdraw your consent. Attendance and courses are always optional. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Children

Registration asks for an age group (adult, up to 8, 9-12 or 13-17), never a date of birth, to show games suited to the age. People under 18 register only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who can also register for a young child. The church's youth leaders (deacons) see the members under 18 of their church, put them in groups and see the scores of the Bible games they finish, to encourage them; scores older than a year are deleted.

Cookies

Only two small cookies: one keeps you signed in and one remembers your language. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too; important changes are announced at church.
